The gta Archive documents the historical, cultural, political, societal, ideological and technological aspects of architectural production. Its growing collections secure historical knowledge in physical, material, as well as increasingly digital formats. It began its operations in 1967 as part of the gta Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture at the ETH Department of Architecture. It upholds the gta Institute's founding principle – to bridge over the counterparts of history and the present, theory and practice. At the same time, the gta Archive maintains strong connections to the local professional discourse as well as international research.
